Discovering Istanbul 1.

Soda Gallery Istanbul – Tanel Venree

Just a few notes on the beginning of my visit in Istanbul. Saturday just arriving I couldn’t miss the first destination. It is the last day for the exhibition at SodaIstanbul featuring Tanel Venree: Naturesque. And even before blending into the enveloping atmosphere of the city, here I am in front of the first of contrasts. The cultural overload, that I was ready to face, remains suspended.

Accuracy, coherence, effect, it’s all.  Light but powerful objects.  Fascinating colors and textures by one side (my personal choice would be for the collier of wooden elements and cosmic dust in blue and purple nuances) and on the other side the gambling with structure for the works showcased as installations, each one to be read as unique monologues inspired by nature (looking at the objects Globus Gruciger and Heart Within a Heart in the open showcase and the ensemble of various brooches displayed on the side wall).

A set of great suggestion, measured in the minimal spaces, showing dry elegance. Since 2010 SodaIstanbul is a reference gallery for contemporary art jewellery in Istanbul, in the District of Nişantaşi. In this area art galleries, workshops and ateliers, fashion and design to take note of, walking up-and-down these European flair streets.

The first taste of the gate of the East is definitely out of the ordinary but certainly positive.

Solo poche note sull’inizio della mia visita a Istanbul. Sabato appena arrivata non potevo mancare la prima destinazione. Ultimo giorno per l’allestimento da Soda Istanbul dei lavori di Tanel Venree: Naturesque. E ancora prima di calarmi nell’avvogente atmosfera della città, eccomi davanti al primo dei contrasti. Resta sospeso il sovraccarico culturale che mi stavo preparando ad affrontare.

Qui solo rigore, coerenza, effetto. Oggetti lievi ma potenti. Colori e textures affascinanti da un lato (la mia scelta personale sarebbe per il collier di elementi in legno e polvere cosmica dalle sfumature blu e porpora) ed equilibri di azzardo strutturale nelle opere-installazione emblema di questa mostra (mi riferisco agli oggetti scultura in sospensione Globus Gruciger and Heart Within a Heart e all’insieme di spille esposte a parete).

Allestimento di grande suggestione, misurato negli spazi minimali, di eleganza asciutta. SodaIstanbul è da qualche anno la galleria punto di riferimento per l’art jewellery contemporanea a Istanbul, nel quartiere di Nişantaşi. La zona delle gallerie d’arte, degli atelier e degli studi, moda e design da registrare passeggiando up-and-down per le sue vie dal tocco molto europeo.

Il primo assaggio della porta d’Oriente é indubbiamente fuori dal comune ma decisamente positivo.
